Day of Caring

Thank you to the more than 360 volunteers that joined us for United Way’s annual Day of Caring. We had 38 projects of varying skill and degree of intensity and yet it all came together! Thanks to the local corporations who allowed their employees to take a day off to help make an impact in our community.

Stuff the Bus Campaign (Communities in Schools of NW MI)

Stuff the Bus Campaign

Project Description: Communities in Schools of Northwest Michigan CIS),partnership with local school districts, works to alleviate the stress for our students by asking community members to donate money or supplies through our annual stuff the bus campaign. School supplies and basic need items are being collected for the following schools: Forest Area Community Schools, Kalkaska Public Schools, Sutton Bay Public Schools, Mancelona Public Schools and Central Lake Public Schools.

Born to Read Book Drive (Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Twilight Foundation)

Born to Read Book Drive

Project Description: Collect new/like new books for children birth to 5 for Born to Read Ambassadors to distribute at baby pantries, WIC clinics, play groups, Migrant Head Start, and other community sites.

Project Date: September 13, 2018

Time Frame: Full day (9:30 am to 4 pm)

Supplies Provided: We will provide a flyer describing Born to Read with criteria for book donations and a link to suggested authors/titles by age category as well as a box for collection of books.

Additional Info: Once books are collected, we will arrange for pick-up at your business.

Volunteers Needed: 2-3

County of Project Locations: Born to Read serves the Grand Traverse Region (Antrim, Benzie Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau counties
