Community volunteers & donors make the grant decisions. More than 10 community members serve as United Way’s Community Advisory Teams, which we refer to as “CAT”. These investors receive training and orientation. After carefully reviewing applications, they meet to interview applicants and score proposals. They conscientiously and thoroughly discuss how to get the best results for our neighbors in the most cost effective ways. Our CAT choose the programs that can address region-wide social issues that cannot be solved alone. If you are interested as in serving on the Citizen Action Team please contact our office at (231) 947.3200.
