Day of Caring Signature Events provides local non-profits access to significant volunteer activities.  Last year, your United Way of NW MI and our vast volunteer network gave our five-county region over 400 hours of service in Day of Caring projects, this year we are on a quest to do more!  Much more! We are seeking volunteers and sponsors for our Day of Caring events.  Sponsors will help pay for tools, supplies, recruiting and coordination of the community-wide events.

With your support, many of your neighbors in need can get the help they need from the caring network at United Way of NWMI.   There is power in one person, one dollar to make a difference.   That power?  The Power of U!   Your muscle, passion for your community, your financial support, your advocacy will make lasting change.

Martin Luther King, Jr Day of Service

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived his life serving others. Following his example, millions of Americans serve on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. In our community lending a hand to help our neighbors – we join Dr. King as drum majors for justice, peace, and righteousness. Make MLK Day a day on, not a day off, by volunteering!  It is easy, to get started, choose a service project, note the number of volunteers, your host site, time and please join us on #UNITED4MLKDAY!

Fall Day of Caring

It’s a single-day service event like no other! United Way Day of Caring is a community-wide event sponsored by Sara Lee Frozen Bakery that addresses critical needs through meaningful volunteer action. Teams of volunteers are matched with local non-profits to help advance their mission and build capacity — all while fostering community engagement.

Welcome Home Baskets

Getting your first place, or moving into a new one, can be expensive. That’s why we’re proud to launch “Welcome Home Baskets”. They’re the essential items needed to begin a new life in a new home. We have families and individuals moving into permanent, supportive housing across the region; some of them will have a safe place to lay their head for the first time! With your help, these families can focus on what’s most important: meals on the table, shoes on their feet, and transportation to get to work. Click here for the full list of items needed for a Welcome Home Basket.
