Traverse City, MI - Thursday September 17, 2020; In a year that has brought us the unexpected, let’s show up for our community in an unexpected way! The United Way of Northwest Michigan is rounding up projects and volunteers for our 2020 Day of Caring, the single biggest day of volunteering in our community.
In light of current safety precautions, nonprofits are asked to register needs that are outdoors only and can accommodate teams of 9 volunteers or fewer. Teams of volunteers are asked to limit their number to 9 or fewer per team. Appropriate masking and social distancing will be enforced throughout the day, while focusing on fun and service. Projects must be submitted by August 1st. The submission form can be found on our here.
While Day of Caring will look different, without a giant celebration party, we are offering awesome swag bags for teams that register by August 21st. In consideration for individuals and groups that can’t join in the fun in person, we are offering our Day of Caring Virtual 5K. A race, you ask? Not that type of 5K, it’s the 5 acts of Kindness. Individuals and families/kids can sign up for our virtual 5K and choose their community acts of kindness. They simply pick a “kindness” act, snap a picture of themselves in the act of kindness, and post it to our social media. Once they’ve completed all 5 Kindness acts, they are in the drawing for a super grand prize. In addition, individuals and children who register for our Virtual 5K by August 21st will receive awesome swag bags!
United Way of Northwest Michigan is celebrating you, your hard work, and your dedication to this community.
