Every day, ordinary people are accomplishing extroardinary things by volunteering.
Our Volunteer Center is the community clearinghouse for volunteerism. We match up people willing to donate their time and talents with 219 non-profit organizations in our five-county area. These volunteers give thousands of hours valued at over $1.2 million.
Visit our new VolunteerNWMI site for the most up to date list of volunteer opportunities in your area.
Some of our current Volunteer Center initiatives include:
Board Recruitment We've partnered with NorthSky Nonprofit Network to help recruit board members for local agencies in northwest Michigan. Through NorthSky's Board Governance education series, you'll learn what it takes to be an effective board member and how to find a nonprofit board in need of your skills and enthusiasm.
RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) RSVP connects people aged 55 and over to meaningful volunteer assignments. You can volunteer year-round, seasonally, once-in-a-while or for just an hour. All you need is a desire to help. With over 200 area non-profit agencies to choose from, the Volunteer Center will find just the right place to use your talents.
Youth & Family Launched in early 2007, this program matches young volunters and families with appropriate volunteer opportunities. An essential tool for this volunteer demographic is our online, interactive volunteer matching date base and website. Check it out at volunteernwmi.org.
