It's A Busy Summer

Life in northern Michigan has a different tempo in the summer but this year United Way is really busy. By the end of the summer we will have finished a number of projects that will make it easier for us to tell people about the needs in our community and to give people ways to help. Here are just a few of the projects we are taking on:

·         Redesigned Website – the new site will still have the same address but will be completely different in how it looks and the information it has. Great new tools, lots of information and a great new look will make the website an effective communication tool. You can expect to see the new site in August.

·         Volunteer NWMI – As you will read elsewhere in the newsletter we are working hard to train over 200 agencies how to use our on line volunteer management system, Volunteer NWMI. In addition to being a management tool for agencies this is where volunteers can search thousands of volunteer opportunities.

·         Revamping Campaign – Our fund development team is hard at work redesigning and energizing our approach to fund raising. We are thrilled Wes and Arlene Nelson have agreed to chair this year’s campaign. We are excited about the changes and hopeful that as a result of a strong campaign we will be able to grant more money than ever.

·         Annual Report – Each year we produce a report to the community. This year’s report will come out in the Record Eagle sometime early this fall.

All of these initiatives are intended to make it easier for us to accomplish our mission to efficiently raise and effectively distribute financial and volunteer resources to support community determined initiatives that improve the lives of community members.
